Magnetic Drive Coupling

Whether magnetic coupling transfers rotation from a separately driven part to the main platter without physical contact between them.

This arrangement uses magnets within the drive path. It differs from magnetic support in the platter bearing, which concerns how the rotating assembly is carried rather than how motion reaches it.

Magnetic Drive Coupling — Turntable

For a Turntable, magnetic drive coupling can connect a belt-, thread- or idler-driven element to the platter. The upstream drive and the magnetic coupling describe different stages of the same mechanism.

Read the stated drive arrangement. A motor driving the platter magnetically without such an intermediate drive is a different drive-type description. Likewise, magnetic bearing support does not prove magnetic transmission of rotation, even if both appear in the same product.

Compare the complete mechanism. The coupling’s presence does not quantify vibration reaching the record, speed variation or audible performance. This field identifies how motion is transferred, not how well the implementation performs.
