Memory Card Expansion

Memory card expansion states the largest removable memory card a player supports.

The capacity limit belongs to the stated card type and slot arrangement. It is separate from built-in storage and from the working memory used to run software.

Memory Card Expansion — Digital Audio Player

A supported card expands the space available for a portable player’s local music library. The number of albums it holds depends on file size, so the same capacity accommodates fewer large high-resolution files than smaller compressed files.

Compare the supported card type, maximum capacity and number of slots. A per-slot limit should not be presented as the combined capacity of several slots. The presence of a card slot alone does not establish its maximum supported size; also check any formatting requirements before moving an existing library onto a new card.
