Meter Calibration Display
A meter calibration display gives a tape deck's level meters a view with targets for calibration test tones.
The display guides adjustments by showing how the tape's recorded test tones compare with the intended levels. It is a visual aid for calibration, distinct from programme metering and from merely having a test-tone generator.
Meter Calibration Display — Cassette Deck
During calibration, the meters can show targets used when adjusting record level and bias for the cassette. This helps the user see if the recorded test signals meet the deck's prescribed alignment. The display may reuse the same bars used to watch music levels.
Compare the calibration procedure and the adjustments the indicators support. Target markers do not establish automatic calibration, and a tone generator alone does not establish a dedicated meter view. Ordinary 0 dB scale markings are not necessarily calibration targets. Follow the deck's sequence and tape-type setting rather than treating all displayed test levels as interchangeable.
