MIDI Control
Whether a turntable provides dedicated MIDI controls for operating compatible music or DJ software.
MIDI communicates control instructions rather than the recorded audio itself. Buttons, pads or other controls can send commands to software, while the turntable’s audio follows a separate signal path.
MIDI Control — Turntable
For a Turntable, MIDI control can combine record playback with software actions such as triggering mapped functions. The useful feature is the set of controls and supported communication, rather than the presence of a USB socket alone.
Check the manufacturer’s description of MIDI or software control and the supported connection. USB audio recording does not establish MIDI capability. Playing a timecode record through a separate digital-vinyl system also does not mean the deck contains its own MIDI controls.
Compare the controls with your software and workflow. Mapping may depend on the application. MIDI support does not specify cartridge performance or guarantee control of every software function.
