Midrange Technology

Midrange technology identifies how the driver reproducing middle frequencies works. Roughly 300 Hz–3 kHz is a guide for this field, not fixed crossover limits.

Dynamic means a cone or dome moved by a voice coil. Changing its material does not change that principle. Electrostatic drivers instead move a charged diaphragm using electrostatic forces.

Midrange Technology — Loudspeaker

In a two-way speaker, use the mid/bass driver’s technology; in a single-driver full-range speaker, use that driver’s technology. An electrostatic midrange panel with a dynamic bass driver is Electrostatic here. The label need not describe every driver in the speaker.

Compare the complete speaker’s frequency response and how it spreads sound toward listeners. The crossover joins the drivers’ frequency bands, so their combined response matters. A technology name alone cannot tell you which speaker sounds better.
