Minimum Load Impedance

The lowest input impedance the following component should present to the product’s line output.

A lower load impedance draws more current from an output. The required minimum load is different from the product’s own output impedance.

Minimum Load Impedance — Optical Equalizer

For a Phono Optical Equalizer, this specification helps check compatibility with the line input of a preamplifier or amplifier. The receiving input should meet the equalizer’s stated load requirement.

For example, “10 kΩ or more” requires an input impedance of at least 10 kΩ. It does not mean that the equalizer has a 10 kΩ output impedance. Keep any separate requirements for RCA and XLR outputs with the relevant connector.

Compare the requirement with the receiving component’s actual input specification, not its speaker impedance. Connecting more than one input to the same output can reduce the combined load impedance. Meeting the minimum establishes a stated electrical requirement; it does not rank sound quality or replace checking the required signal level.
