Motor Placement

The physical location of the turntable’s drive motor relative to the platter and main chassis.

Motor placement describes where the motor itself sits. A separate power-supply enclosure is not an external motor, and an isolated motor mounted within the plinth still occupies that plinth.

Motor Placement — Turntable

For a Turntable, motor placement helps explain the layout and installation requirements. The motor may sit inside the main chassis, in a separate freestanding pod or directly beneath the platter as part of a direct-drive arrangement.

Check the described physical construction rather than relying on the number of boxes shown. A remote controller can power a motor hidden in the deck. Conversely, an external motor pod may need a particular position to maintain the intended belt or thread path.

Compare footprint and setup requirements, including space around a separate pod. Placement alone does not quantify vibration or speed stability. Mounting and control matter too; external motors are not automatically better.
