Native DSD Support

Native DSD support means the device can pass DSD through using a native transfer method.

It is separate from converting DSD to PCM or carrying DSD in DoP framing. The capability statement does not by itself specify the highest supported DSD rate.

Native DSD Support — USB Reclocker

For a USB reclocker, native support concerns the digital path from the source through to a compatible output and DAC. The source software and receiving device must also support the selected native transfer arrangement.

Compare the interface, rate and any software requirements on the complete path. A generic DSD-compatible statement or a DoP-only mode does not establish native pass-through. Keep native transfer distinct from a claim that a downstream DAC performs no internal conversion; the reclocker’s specification does not describe the DAC’s internal processing.
