Number of Shelves / Tiers

Number of Shelves counts the rack’s equipment-supporting shelves or tiers in the specified configuration.

The count describes support levels, not the number of components the rack can safely hold. A wide shelf may accommodate more than one item, while a large component may occupy an entire level. Check whether the top platform is included in the stated total.

Number of Shelves / Tiers — Rack

Plan each level around its usable width, depth, vertical clearance and load rating. Adding more shelves within the same overall height can reduce the gaps between them. Equipment still needs its specified ventilation space and access for cables, controls or moving lids.

Distinguish the supplied shelf count from the maximum possible count on an expandable rack. Optional shelves or modules may be sold separately, and fitting them can have configuration-specific restrictions. The count does not establish total load capacity or permission to stack components directly on one another; those limits come from the rack and equipment instructions.
