Separate-Power Phono Cable Input

Whether the optical-cartridge input supports a phono cable that separates the cartridge’s LED power supply from its signal connection.

This feature describes a particular cartridge-cable connection. It is separate from an external power-supply box for the equalizer itself.

Separate-Power Phono Cable Input — Optical Equalizer

On a Phono Optical Equalizer, this input is intended for a compatible power-separated phono cable, such as the arrangement developed by DS Audio and Uesugi. It matters when the cartridge system and tonearm cabling are set up for that connection.

“Yes” requires explicit support for the separate-power cable. An ordinary RCA or XLR phono input does not establish it: the connector shape alone does not identify its wiring or purpose. Missing information should remain unknown.

Compare the complete cable and input arrangement specified by the manufacturer before connecting equipment. This feature does not imply compatibility with every optical cartridge or with magnetic cartridges. It identifies a supported connection method, rather than a guaranteed improvement in sound.
