Output Impedance (Unbalanced)
Unbalanced output impedance is the source impedance of the specified unbalanced output.
The value belongs to that output and its stated frequency or operating condition. It is separate from the impedance of the connected load and from another output type’s rating.
Output Impedance (Unbalanced) — Digital Audio Player
For a portable player, this describes the source impedance of the unbalanced output used for the stated measurement. The other output path can have a different design.
Compare the exact socket and headphone or line-output mode. Keep the headphone’s own impedance separate and do not infer output power or maximum voltage from source impedance alone.
Output Impedance (Unbalanced) — Preamp
For a preamplifier, this describes the unbalanced line output, normally on RCA, driving the next component. In a passive design it can change with volume setting.
Compare the actual setting or published range and test frequency. Keep the recommended power-amplifier input load separate. A highest value retained from a range does not mean the impedance is constant at every volume position.
Output Impedance (Unbalanced) — Headphone Amp
For a headphone amplifier, this value describes the unbalanced headphone-output path under the stated conditions. It interacts with the connected headphone’s impedance.
Compare the exact socket and measurement basis rather than assuming both output types match. The recommended headphone load range and the load used for a power test are different specifications.
Output Impedance (Unbalanced) — DAC
For a DAC, this describes the unbalanced analogue line output feeding a preamplifier or amplifier. It does not describe a headphone socket or digital interface.
Compare the stated output and frequency condition. Do not substitute the balanced line-output value or a headphone-output figure. A minimum recommended input load is not the DAC’s own source impedance.
