Output Tube Complement

Output Tube Complement lists the types and quantities of tubes in an amplifier’s final power stage, which supplies power to the speakers.

For example, 4 × KT88 means four KT88 output tubes, not four watts. A general tube list may also include input and driver tubes, which handle earlier signal stages, and rectifier tubes in the power supply. These are separate roles, so do not count every listed tube as an output tube.

Check whether quantities refer to each channel, the whole stereo amplifier or one mono amplifier. A type without a quantity gives no count; an unstated count scope remains unknown.

Tube type and count alone do not tell you the wattage: check the amplifier’s rated power. Nor does the list authorize substitutions. Use the manufacturer’s documentation for your exact model to check approved replacement types and replacement instructions.
