Maximum PCM Resolution
Maximum PCM resolution combines supported PCM bit depth and sample rate into one audio-format limit.
Bit depth describes word length and sample rate describes samples per second. The two belong together; a maximum pair may apply only to a particular input or mode.
Maximum PCM Resolution — Headphone Amp
On a headphone amplifier with an integrated DAC, this rating describes the highest supported digital PCM format. It is separate from analogue amplification and from DSD support.
Compare the actual source connection and its format limit rather than applying a product-wide maximum to every input. Do not combine the highest bit depth from one mode with the highest rate from another unless that pair is supported. A DAC chip’s internal precision and a display’s pixel resolution are different specifications.
