Balanced Phono Inputs
The number of balanced cartridge inputs provided by the phono stage.
Balanced phono inputs are included in the total phono-input count. They describe connections for cartridge signals, rather than balanced line inputs or outputs.
Balanced Phono Inputs — Phono Preamp
A balanced phono input gives a compatible turntable and cable a balanced connection into the Phono Preamp. Its practical value depends on the complete cartridge, tonearm wiring and connection arrangement, not simply on the socket’s appearance.
Read the figure as the number of cartridge input connections available. Check the specified connector and wiring: balanced phono connections can use different socket types. Two channel sockets may form one stereo input, so individual sockets should not automatically be counted as separate inputs.
Compare this count with how many turntables or tonearms you want connected. A balanced output does not establish a balanced phono input, and an amplifier’s XLR line input cannot replace a cartridge input with the required phono amplification and equalisation.
