Built-In Phono Stage
A built-in phono stage amplifies a turntable cartridge’s small signal and applies playback equalization inside the turntable, allowing it to feed a suitable line input.
The equalization restores the frequency balance altered when an ordinary record was cut; the stage does more than increase volume.
Built-In Phono Stage — Turntable
This can remove the need for a separate phono box when the stage matches the installed cartridge. Connect its processed line output to a line input, not another phono input, which would repeat the processing.
A switchable stage still counts as built in. Whether it can be bypassed is a separate feature to check before using an external stage. A bundled external box is not inside the turntable.
The feature does not establish speaker amplification, cartridge compatibility or the quality of the stage. Check those separately, especially after replacing the cartridge. Bluetooth and USB outputs describe different functions.
