Polarity Invert

Polarity Invert means a user control can reverse the signal’s positive and negative directions, often labelled absolute phase or 0°/180°.

This reverses waveform polarity; it does not exchange left and right channels or provide an adjustable time delay.

Polarity Invert — Phono Preamp

On a phono stage, the control changes the polarity of the signal sent onward in the playback chain. Check whether it affects both channels and every output or only a documented path. The rest of the system may also invert polarity.

Compare the same passage at the same level if you want to assess the setting. A preferred result on one recording does not establish a universal correct position, and the feature itself is not a measure of sound quality.

A specification saying the circuit is non-inverting describes its normal behaviour, not an available switch. Missing information leaves the control unknown. It is separate from a crossover’s per-output polarity adjustment.
