Quartz Lock

Whether a turntable provides a quartz-lock or pitch-reset control that returns playback to nominal speed.

This feature concerns a user control that restores the standard speed despite a pitch adjustment. It differs from a general statement that the motor uses quartz-regulated speed control internally.

Quartz Lock — Turntable

For a Turntable, quartz lock or pitch reset makes it easy to return to the selected nominal speed after using the pitch fader. That can be useful when alternating between pitch-adjusted playback and normal listening.

Check what the button or switch actually does and how it interacts with the pitch control. A quartz-controlled motor without an explicit lock or reset function does not establish this particular feature. Indicator lights should be interpreted according to their stated purpose.

Compare the controls and their operation. Returning to nominal speed does not quantify wow and flutter, guarantee exact measured rotation or describe how smoothly the deck changes speed.
