RCA Line Input/Output

RCA line input/output counts the unbalanced line-level RCA connections used for recording and playback.

Inputs receive a signal from another component; outputs send the deck’s signal onward. The combined total needs its direction and counting convention to be useful.

RCA Line Input/Output — Reel-to-Reel

On a reel-to-reel deck, RCA line inputs can receive audio for recording and RCA line outputs can feed an amplifier or other line-level destination. A stereo connection normally uses separate left and right RCA sockets.

Compare the breakdown into inputs and outputs and check whether the figure counts individual sockets or stereo pairs. Two input sockets and two output sockets are not four stereo connections. Keep balanced XLR, microphone and headphone connections separate, and do not assume that every RCA connector on a device carries analogue line-level audio.
