Recording Sample Rates (Digital Input)

Digital-input recording sample rates identify the sampling frequencies a digital tape recorder supports when recording from a digital source.

These rates belong to the digital recording path. They are separate from playback-only support and from the rates available when the recorder converts an analog input to digital.

Recording Sample Rates (Digital Input) — Digital Tape Recorder

The supported list helps match a digital source to the recorder. A source sending 48 kHz needs a compatible digital recording mode or explicitly supported conversion. Playback of a prerecorded tape at another rate does not prove that the machine can record that rate through its digital input.

Compare the named input, recording mode and tape format. A general sample-rate list may describe playback, so use recording-specific information. Supported rate alone does not settle copy restrictions or every format requirement. Do not infer digital-input recording support from the analog recording setting or from an output's converted rate.
