Reel Hub / Spindle Compatibility
Reel Hub Type identifies the reel-centre or spindle standards a reel-to-reel machine accepts.
Common arrangements include a small cine or trident hub and a larger NAB hub, which may require adapters. The hub secures the reel to the transport; it is separate from the reel’s outside diameter and the tape width.
Reel Hub / Spindle Compatibility — Reel-to-Reel
Check whether compatible adapters are required and whether they are included. Use the specified locking arrangement so the reel is retained correctly. A hub adapter does not automatically make an oversized reel suitable for a transport.
Keep the machine’s supported hub types distinct from the hub fitted to a separately sold reel. Also confirm reel diameter and tape width before use. The hub label does not describe track format, playback speed or audio equalization, even when a similar abbreviation appears in those other specifications.
