Reference Input Level Range

The signal level or range accepted by the clock’s external reference input.

Input level describes the reference signal’s amplitude. It is separate from input impedance, accepted frequency and the level produced by the clock’s own outputs.

Reference Input Level Range — External Clock

For an External Clock, this range helps check whether another clock or reference generator can drive its input correctly. The source’s output must fall within the receiver’s specified limits under the stated connection conditions.

Read the units carefully: peak-to-peak voltage, RMS voltage and dBm are not interchangeable numerical scales. Keep the specified waveform and termination with the figure. A single rated level does not imply an unstated range around it.

Compare the source and input using the same amplitude basis and load conditions. A matching 10 MHz label or BNC connector is insufficient on its own. This specification describes the timing-reference input, not an analogue audio input’s clipping level or the product’s power-supply voltage.
