Resonant / Isolation Frequency
Resonant frequency is the natural oscillation frequency of an isolation support with its load.
Near resonance, movement can be amplified rather than isolated. Isolation occurs farther above the resonance region, with the transition and peak depending on damping and the support design.
Resonant / Isolation Frequency — Damping Base
For an isolation base, resonance describes the platform-and-load system, not simply the base material. Supported mass and the direction of movement can change the result.
Compare values at the stated load and in the same direction. A low resonance may extend useful isolation toward lower frequencies, but resonance itself is not the frequency where attenuation necessarily begins.
Resonant / Isolation Frequency — Damping Feet
For isolation feet, resonance depends on the load carried by each foot and the complete support arrangement. Uneven weight distribution can give the supports different working conditions.
Compare the stated load range and vertical or horizontal behavior. A nominal resonance measured at one load does not apply unchanged to every component, and damping or isolation performance needs more than this one number.
