Reverse Play
Whether a turntable can deliberately drive its platter backwards for reverse playback.
Reverse play is a powered operating mode selected by the user. It is distinct from manually moving a record backwards and from reversing the direction of a motor during servicing or setup.
Reverse Play — Turntable
For a Turntable, reverse play is mainly relevant to performance and creative playback. The control changes platter direction rather than rearranging a track list or changing the order in which recorded selections are played.
Check that the manufacturer explicitly describes reverse rotation or reverse playback. A photograph of controls, a variable pitch range or a high-torque motor does not establish the feature. If the documentation is silent, availability remains unknown rather than confirmed absent.
Compare the control with your intended use and cartridge’s suitability for performance techniques. Reverse capability does not describe normal speed accuracy or automatic arm operation; it adds another direction of driven rotation.
