Ethernet (RJ45) Port
RJ45 Ethernet port count states how many physical wired-network sockets the product provides.
Each socket is counted once. Its network speed and role are separate details, and a similarly shaped connector used for another protocol is not an Ethernet port.
Ethernet (RJ45) Port — Ethernet Cable
For an Ethernet cable assembly, the count identifies the stated RJ45 network connections at its ends or interfaces. It does not describe the number of conductor pairs inside.
Compare connector arrangement and the intended network role. RJ45 shape alone does not establish cable category or data rate, and an end-to-end cable should not be confused with a multiport network switch.
Ethernet (RJ45) Port — Music Server
For a music server, RJ45 ports can connect the network and, where supported, a dedicated player or streamer. A dedicated player socket is still one physical Ethernet port.
Count a double-isolated port once, not twice. SFP fibre cages are separate interfaces. Compare port roles and supported speeds rather than assuming every socket behaves as an interchangeable network-switch port.
Ethernet (RJ45) Port — SFP Ethernet Cable
For an optical Ethernet converter or assembly, an RJ45 port provides the copper-network side of the link. The SFP cage or optical connector serves a separate physical interface.
Compare the copper-port speed and supported conversion arrangement. Do not count an optical SFP cage as an RJ45 socket or assume the number of ports identifies a switching function.
Ethernet (RJ45) Port — Streamer
For a streamer, an RJ45 Ethernet port provides wired network access for supported streaming and control. Its count is separate from Wi-Fi availability.
Exclude SFP fibre cages and RJ45-shaped I²S outputs from the Ethernet count. Compare the actual network speed and setup requirements; connector shape alone does not establish the protocol.
Ethernet (RJ45) Port — Upscaler
For an upscaler, an RJ45 Ethernet port provides the stated network function, which may involve audio, control or updates depending on the design.
Compare the actual supported role rather than assuming every Ethernet connection receives network audio. An RJ45-shaped I²S connection is a different interface and should not be counted as Ethernet.
