Roon Tested
Roon Tested identifies audio hardware whose compatibility with Roon has been checked by Roon and the manufacturer.
It is a compatibility designation, not a sound-quality score. An explicit Roon Tested listing confirms that status; “works with Roon” alone does not. A missing label leaves the status unknown, rather than meaning no. Roon Ready is separate: it certifies built-in support for Roon’s RAAT network playback technology.
Roon Tested — Streamer
A combined streamer and DAC can be Tested for use through its USB DAC input without that proving Roon Ready network support. Treat those as different playback routes, even though they belong to one box.
Tested is not restricted to USB: the programme also covers connections such as AirPlay and Google Cast. Before choosing a route, check the exact model and connection in Roon’s partner listing and the product manual. Look for Roon Ready separately if you want its built-in RAAT network integration.

Roon Tested — DAC
For a DAC, testing helps establish that the digital connection works with Roon. Many Tested USB DACs are recognised automatically, with suitable settings applied. Others can be selected using Roon’s device picker.
Check the exact model, intended input, computer or operating-system support, and the audio formats and sample rates you need. The badge does not promise every format on every input. A DAC without the designation may still work: Roon recognises audio devices supported by the computer’s operating system.
