Shelf Load Capacity

Shelf Load Capacity is the maximum load a single rack shelf is rated to support under the specified conditions.

The rating may assume that weight is spread across the shelf rather than concentrated at one point. Shelf position, supports and configuration can matter. Keep the unit and stated loading conditions with the figure instead of treating it as an unconditional limit.

Shelf Load Capacity — Rack

Add the weight of everything placed on that shelf, including equipment and accessories. Check that the equipment’s feet land within the intended support area. A component below the weight limit may still have an unsuitable footprint or concentrate its load in an unsupported position.

The rack’s total load capacity is a separate limit and may be lower than the sum of all individual shelf ratings. Follow both limits and any assembly or load-distribution instructions. A high shelf rating does not establish resistance to tipping, vibration isolation or permission to climb on or move a loaded rack.
