Shelf Material
Shelf Material identifies the material used to make the rack’s shelf panels.
Examples include wood, plywood, MDF, glass, metal and composite constructions. A veneer or surface finish may cover a different structural material underneath. Keep the shelf description separate from the frame material, because the two parts can use different construction methods.

The panel works together with its thickness, span and supports to carry equipment. Material alone does not establish the permitted load or how much the shelf will flex. Use the rating for the actual shelf and support arrangement, including any stated restrictions on concentrated loads.
Check whether all shelves use the same material and whether alternative panels are optional. Care and handling requirements can differ, particularly for edges, coatings and glass panels. Do not treat a material label as a ranking of sound quality or vibration isolation. Those effects depend on the complete mechanical arrangement and the equipment placed on it, not simply the appearance.
