Configuration
Speaker cable configuration describes how the conductors connect an amplifier to one or more terminal pairs on a loudspeaker.
Single-wire uses one positive and negative pair at each end. Bi-wire separates the speaker connections into two pairs, while tri-wire uses three. Bi-amp keeps separate paths for different amplifier channels.
Configuration — Speaker Cable
The configuration must match the speaker terminals and intended amplifier arrangement. A two-to-four bi-wire cable joins the paths at the amplifier end but separates them at the loudspeaker. A four-to-four bi-amp cable keeps both paths separate at both ends, allowing separate amplifier channels to drive the speaker sections.
Compare the wiring diagram as well as the plug count. Bi-wiring alone does not add another amplifier. Follow the loudspeaker instructions for removing terminal links before separate feeds are connected. Jumpers are short links between terminals, not another main-cable configuration, and additional conductors do not by themselves establish better sound.
