Speaker Input Connectors
The terminal types that connect a passive loudspeaker to a power amplifier’s speaker output. This specification helps you choose compatible cable ends.
Binding posts may accept bare wire, banana plugs or spade connectors; check the model’s instructions. Spring clips grip bare wire. A speakON connection needs the correct plug, wired to the signal contacts specified in the equipment instructions.
Speaker Input Connectors — Loudspeaker
Choose cable ends that both the speaker and amplifier accept. For speakON, check the specified connector and pin assignments at both ends; a matching plug shape does not establish electrical compatibility. Never connect a speaker output to a line input: it can damage the input.
Switch off the amplifier before wiring, unplug it if its instructions require this, match + to + and − to −, and keep loose wire strands from touching opposite terminals.
Connector type alone does not establish bi-wire or bi-amp support. Check that separate specification and the equipment instructions.
