Speed Display
The turntable’s built-in indication of platter speed or speed-lock status.
A speed display can take the form of a platter strobe, numerical readout or speed-lock indicator. A light showing only the selected speed does not necessarily confirm actual rotation or lock.
Speed Display — Turntable
For a Turntable, speed indication helps the user see the stated operating condition. A numerical display, strobe pattern and lock light provide different kinds of information and should not be treated as equivalent measurements.
Read what the manufacturer says the indication represents. A display may identify the selected setting rather than independently measure platter speed. A loose strobe disc supplied as an accessory is different from a built-in strobe arrangement, and a power light supplies no speed information.
Compare the information shown with your needs. Lock status does not quantify speed error. Display presence alone does not establish accuracy, low wow and flutter or adjustable pitch; those are separate specifications.
