Storage Drive Count / Bays
Storage Drive Count is the number of internal bays or slots available for a music server’s library drives, whether those positions are filled or empty.
It describes room for drives, not the number supplied, their combined capacity or how they are configured.
Storage Drive Count / Bays — Music Server
For a music server, more available positions can provide expansion choices. Check the supported drive form factors, interfaces and capacity limits before assuming an empty slot accepts a drive you own. Some products restrict installation or upgrades to service personnel.
Read which positions serve music storage. A separate operating-system drive, optical disc drive, USB port or memory-card slot does not add to the internal library-drive count. Compare the exact model and configuration rather than a picture of another chassis.
Several bays do not prove that mirroring, RAID or automatic backup is available. Those require separate software and configuration support. If the documentation does not establish the count, leave it unknown rather than inferring spare space.
