Storage Media Type

Storage Media Type describes the kind of drive used for a music server’s library, such as a hard disk or solid-state drive, or explicit absence of an included music drive.

A hard disk uses rotating platters; an SSD stores data electronically without those moving parts. The operating-system drive may be separate from the music library.

Check the library drive in the exact supplied configuration. SATA and NVMe describe different interfaces or protocols, while a label such as M.2 describes a physical format and does not establish NVMe support by itself. Preserve the manufacturer’s stated interface rather than guessing it.

The medium can affect mechanical noise, access behaviour and upgrade choices. It does not by itself establish audible playback quality, total capacity or how quickly the complete server responds.

A diskless server needs supported user-installed or external storage. Explicitly no included library drive is different from missing specifications. Check compatible drives, installation rules and backup arrangements separately.
