Supported Disc Formats
The types of disc and recorded content the transport is specified to play.
Disc compatibility can describe both the physical medium and the format recorded on it. Support for a recordable disc does not automatically establish support for every file type stored on that disc.
Supported Disc Formats — SACD Transport
For an SACD Transport, the supported-disc list distinguishes SACD playback from Audio CD and any additional formats. A universal transport may support more formats, but those should be explicitly named.
Read format support separately from stereo or multichannel SACD-area support. Playing the CD layer of a hybrid disc does not establish playback of its SACD area. Recordable-disc and data-file compatibility may have additional conditions.
Compare the list with the discs you own and check the output route required for each format. A transport may read a disc while offering different signal formats on different outputs; the disc-format list alone does not establish DSD output or surround playback.
Supported Disc Formats — CD Transport
For a CD Transport, supported formats establish which parts of your disc collection it can read. Audio CD support is distinct from playback of MP3 or other files written to a data disc.
Read each named format and any conditions for CD-R or CD-RW media, such as finalisation requirements. A supported disc type does not guarantee that every damaged disc or every recording made by another device will play.
Compare the list with your actual collection and the transport’s instructions. A CD mechanism does not establish SACD or DVD-Audio support, and recognizing a disc does not describe the formats available at each digital output.
