Compatible Optical Cartridges
The optical-cartridge makes or systems explicitly supported by the equalizer.
Optical cartridges require a compatible equalizer that provides the appropriate signal processing and power arrangement. An ordinary MM or MC input does not establish optical compatibility.
Compatible Optical Cartridges — Optical Equalizer
For a Phono Optical Equalizer, this entry is a direct compatibility check before choosing a cartridge. A statement naming DS Audio, Reed or another optical system identifies the supported family; the word “optical” alone is insufficient to identify one.
Read the manufacturer’s stated compatibility and any applicable connection requirements. A hybrid phono stage may support optical cartridges through a dedicated input while using separate inputs or settings for magnetic cartridges. Similar-looking connectors do not make those inputs interchangeable.
Compare the named system with the cartridge you intend to use, then check the accompanying setup instructions. Compatibility does not describe cartridge sound quality or the equalizer’s output level. Missing information should remain unknown rather than being filled from the product’s appearance.
