Wiring Path

Wiring path describes how a cartridge’s signal travels through the tonearm to the phono stage.

“Continuous to phono stage” means one unbroken wire run from cartridge clips to the plugs at the phono stage. “Connector at arm base” means a separate phono cable plugs into the arm’s base, often through five-pin DIN. With “Termination box”, internal wiring ends at sockets in a junction box; the external cable connects there.

Wiring Path — Tonearm

A permanently attached lead is not necessarily continuous: internal and external wires may be soldered together.

Compare the standard configuration, including the fitted arm on a turntable. An optional wiring arrangement is not automatically included. Before choosing a separate cable, check its connectors and follow the manufacturer’s connection instructions. The path alone identifies neither exact connector nor conductor material, and does not rank sound quality.
