Adjustable Torque
Whether the user can change the turntable motor’s driving torque.
Torque adjustment changes the turning force applied by the drive. It is separate from a pitch control, and an adjustable startup or braking time does not by itself establish adjustable motor torque.
Adjustable Torque — Turntable
For a Turntable, adjustable torque lets the user alter how firmly the drive responds when the platter is started or disturbed. This can be useful when adapting a deck’s response to different performance techniques.
Check for an explicit torque setting and read the available steps or range. A general claim of high torque identifies a drive characteristic, not user adjustment. A brake control may alter stopping behaviour without changing the torque used during normal rotation.
Compare the adjustment with your use. The highest setting is not automatically best for every technique. Platter inertia and motor control also influence response, and adjustable torque alone does not rank sound quality.
