Transparency / Ambient Mode
Transparency Mode indicates whether headphones can relay surrounding sound to the listener through their built-in microphones.
Also called ambient or hear-through mode, it feeds an electronically captured version of the surroundings into the headphone playback. This is different from simply turning active noise cancellation off: a sealed earcup or ear tip can still block sound when ANC is disabled.

The mode can help with hearing a conversation or an announcement while wearing the headphone. Its usefulness depends on microphone placement, processing, fit and background noise. Some models allow the ambient level to be adjusted, but the feature entry alone does not establish those controls.
The reproduced surroundings may sound different from unaided hearing, and some sounds can remain difficult to notice. Check how the mode is activated and whether it needs battery power. Do not assume that enabling transparency guarantees awareness of traffic, warning signals or every nearby sound.
