Usable Sensitivity (Mono)

Usable sensitivity is the weakest antenna signal that meets the tuner’s stated usable-reception criterion.

This field concerns mono reception. The test’s noise and distortion criteria define “usable”; it does not mean the weakest signal providing ideal listening quality.

Usable Sensitivity (Mono) — Tuner

For a tuner, the rating characterizes weak-signal reception under a defined test. A lower required input level indicates greater sensitivity when the units and test conditions are equivalent.

Compare mono figures using the same quality criterion and input-level convention. A 50 dB stereo quieting rating asks a different question and should not be substituted. Microvolt and dBf values require their proper measurement basis for comparison. The figure does not guarantee reception of a station without a suitable antenna or adequate signal at the location.
