Twin-Deck Modes

Twin-deck modes describe functions that coordinate the two cassette wells beyond simply copying one tape to another.

The wells can work sequentially, reverse together during dubbing or, where separate outputs are provided, play independently at the same time. These are distinct operating modes; having two cassette wells does not establish that every mode is available.

Relay play starts the second well when the first finishes. Continuous recording instead carries recording across to the other well. Synchronized reverse dubbing keeps both wells' direction changes coordinated, while twin-output operation lets two tapes feed separate outputs simultaneously. Each serves a different practical workflow.

Compare the stated modes and which wells can record. Ordinary dubbing does not establish continuous recording, and two wells do not imply two independent outputs. Reverse coordination is also separate from dubbing speed. Check any direction or end-of-tape conditions before relying on a mode for uninterrupted programme playback or recording.
