Glossary term

USB-A Data Port

The number of USB-A host ports intended for connecting external drives or other supported storage.

A host port lets the product access attached storage. The USB-A connector shape alone does not establish this function, and a power-only or service port does not count.

USB-A Data Port — Streamer

On a Streamer, a USB-A storage input can allow playback of supported music files from an attached drive. It can be useful for a local collection without relying on a network music server.

Read the count as available storage-host connections, then check supported file formats, drive formatting and library limits. A USB audio connection to a computer or DAC does not establish that the streamer can read an external drive.

Compare the inputs with the storage you intend to attach. The connector count does not specify file support, drive power capacity or playback quality, and a charging-only socket should not be included.

USB-A Data Port — Music Server

On a Music Server, USB-A storage ports can provide connections for supported external libraries, imports or backups. Which tasks are available depends on the server’s software and storage features, not simply on the number of sockets.

Read the count for storage-capable host ports. A USB output intended for a DAC or a service connection is a different function unless storage support is also stated. Check accepted drive formats and any power limits.

Compare the count with the devices you need connected at once. Additional ports do not establish unlimited storage capacity, automatic backup or support for every USB drive.
