USB DAC Mode
USB DAC mode lets a portable player receive another device's USB audio and reproduce it through its own converter and outputs.
The connected host supplies audio while the player acts as an external sound device. USB audio output reverses that direction, sending music to a separate DAC. Charging and file transfer are different functions.
USB DAC Mode — Digital Audio Player
In USB DAC mode, the player can serve as the headphone or line-output device for audio played on a connected host. Its music library need not be the source. The connection requires the host and player to support the appropriate USB audio arrangement.
Compare supported hosts, drivers, rates and the outputs available in this mode. A USB socket alone proves neither USB audio input nor DAC operation, and micro-USB can support the function as well as newer connector shapes. Do not confuse receiving USB audio with sending it onward to an external converter; the data direction is essential.
