USB Digital Output

USB digital output sends digitized analogue audio to a compatible receiving computer or device.

The audio passes through analogue-to-digital conversion before USB transfer. This is different from a USB socket used only for power, storage playback or control.

USB Digital Output — Tape Deck

On a tape deck, this feature can transfer tape playback to a computer as digital audio for recording or other supported use. The receiving software captures the stream provided by the deck.

Compare the supported USB audio format, recording workflow and software requirements. A USB storage-playback function is not the same as sending tape audio out over USB. The connection does not remove noise or distortion already present in the tape recording.

USB Digital Output — Turntable

On a turntable, USB audio output lets the record’s analogue signal be converted to digital and sent to a compatible computer. It can support recording a vinyl collection without a separate external audio interface.

Compare the available output format and the required computer connection or software. A USB power inlet, storage-player port or DJ control interface does not establish this audio-output function. Keep analogue-output settings and any built-in phono equalization conditions with the supported recording arrangement.
