Glossary term

USB Driver Support

The manufacturer’s stated driver requirements for using a DAC’s USB audio input with each named operating system.

Driverless means you do not install a separate driver: the operating system supplies one. It does not mean there is no driver software. This entry requires a maker’s statement naming Windows; USB Audio Class 2 compliance alone does not establish its driverless Windows label.

USB Driver Support — DAC

A DAC may play ordinary audio without extra installation on a supported Windows version, yet need the maker’s driver for a special playback mode. Both Windows labels can therefore apply.

Check the exact DAC’s current instructions for your operating-system version, player and desired format or sample rate. Driverless does not promise every format or rate. Control-app or firmware-updater requirements are separate from USB playback requirements. A blank entry means support is unspecified, not that your system is incompatible.
