USB Output Bus Power

USB output bus power states whether the audio output supplies the USB power line to the connected device.

The power feed is separate from the digital audio data. Its available voltage and current, and whether it can be switched off, are additional conditions.

USB Output Bus Power — USB Reclocker

On a USB reclocker, output bus power can supply or enable a compatible downstream DAC according to that DAC’s requirements. A self-powered DAC may still have requirements for the USB power line.

Compare the output’s available current and switching behaviour with the connected DAC. Do not substitute the reclocker’s own supply rating for its USB-output power capability. Turning the power line off does not guarantee that every DAC will continue to connect, and output power support does not describe the number of USB sockets.
