USB Port
USB port availability identifies a USB connection with the function stated for the device.
USB sockets can serve audio, storage, control, updates or power. Connector presence alone does not establish which of these functions is supported.
USB Port — Tape Deck
On a tape deck, the USB port may support digitized audio output or another stated function. Its direction and operating mode determine how it can be used with a computer or storage device.
Compare the actual function and supported formats. A USB connection for updates is not a tape-recording interface, and reading files from a drive is different from sending tape playback to a computer.
USB Port — Subwoofer
On a subwoofer, a USB port may be provided for configuration, service or firmware updates. It should not be assumed to accept music as a normal audio input.
Compare the documented port function and required accessory or software. A USB-shaped socket does not establish phone playback or device charging, and using it for an unsupported purpose can fail even when the cable fits.
USB Port — Power Supply
On an external power supply, a USB port can have a stated power, configuration or update role. The specification needs that role to distinguish it from the unit’s other outputs.
Compare any available voltage and current or required control function separately. A port used for service does not automatically supply usable power to an audio device, and a power-output port does not establish USB audio support.
