USB Output 5 V Power
USB VBUS output describes how a digital interface supplies, passes through or disables the 5-volt power line on its USB output to a DAC.
The output may use the interface’s own supply, carry power from the source, allow the user to switch power off, or provide no bus power. This concerns the outgoing USB connection.
USB Output 5 V Power — Digital Interface
The arrangement matters when the connected DAC needs USB power or uses the power line to detect a connection. An independently generated output can replace the source’s supply; pass-through keeps the source as the power provider. Switchable VBUS lets the user remove it when the connected equipment supports that operation.
Compare the DAC’s requirements and the available current. Removing bus power can prevent operation, even when data conductors remain connected. A separate supply for the interface itself does not prove a regenerated USB output, and cleaner-power wording does not establish galvanic isolation or an audible improvement.
