Word Clock Input

Word-clock input counts the dedicated connections that let a device receive an external word-clock signal.

Word clock supplies timing rather than the audio programme itself. An input receives that timing; it does not send a clock to other equipment.

Word Clock Input — USB Reclocker

On a USB reclocker, a word-clock input allows a compatible external clock to provide the timing reference for supported operation. The audio still enters through its intended audio connection.

Compare the number of word-clock inputs with their accepted rates and electrical requirements. A BNC connector used for digital audio or a 10 MHz-only reference is a different connection. Socket count alone does not establish compatibility, and an available input does not guarantee that external clocking is preferable to the unit’s internal timing.
