Word Clock Output
Word-clock output count states how many dedicated connections send word-clock timing to compatible receiving equipment.
These outputs carry clock signals, not the audio programme. Their number is separate from generated rates and from the availability of other reference-clock formats.
Word Clock Output — Upscaler
On an upscaler, word-clock outputs can provide timing to compatible downstream equipment. Each receiving device still needs an appropriate audio connection and must accept the selected clock rate and signal conditions.
Compare output count with the supported rates and any independent-output settings. Do not count BNC audio outputs or 10 MHz reference outputs as word-clock outputs. Several sockets do not automatically mean independently selectable rates, so check the arrangement required by the connected devices.
Word Clock Output — USB Reclocker
On a USB reclocker, these sockets provide word-clock timing for compatible external components. The output count describes available connections, while a simple word-clock-output feature flag only confirms that the function exists.
Compare the sockets’ generated rates, electrical specification and permitted connection arrangement. An input socket does not add another output, and a BNC connector alone does not identify word clock. Keep shared-rate or simultaneous-operation restrictions with the count when several receivers are to be connected.
