SACD Transport

An SACD transport reads Super Audio CDs and provides their audio for playback through a compatible conversion path.

It can be a separate transport or the disc-reading part of a complete SACD player. A player with analogue outputs includes conversion as well. DSD file support on a streamer or DAC does not mean it can read SACD discs.

Check the supported disc formats and whether the product plays stereo, multichannel or both SACD areas. Playing the stereo area of a multichannel disc is not multichannel output. The CD layer of a hybrid disc is also separate from its SACD programme.

Match the intended disc area to the available output and receiving equipment. HDMI, I²S and proprietary links have different compatibility requirements, and a familiar connector does not guarantee native DSD delivery. Analogue outputs, where supplied, use the player’s internal converter and need a suitable amplifier input.
