Capability

Network streaming

Network streaming brings music from online services or a local music library into your system over Wi-Fi or Ethernet.

This function can sit in a separate player or inside an amplifier. It does not itself provide digital-to-analogue conversion or the power to drive speakers. A player’s analogue outputs use a built-in digital-to-analogue converter (DAC); digital outputs pass the signal to a DAC elsewhere in the system.

Check the services and playback protocols supported by the product: these determine which services and network playback methods you can use. For a local library, check file-format support too. A Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection alone does not guarantee that your chosen music source will work.

Maximum sample rate and bit depth describe supported digital audio formats. Check these limits for the output you will use and the receiving DAC or amplifier input. The headline maximum may not apply to every output.
